coup spécial de Villager coup spécial de Villager

Villager is a character that has atypical characteristics, especially on his special attacks. His Neutral B allows him to catch a projectile he can send back with its power two times increased and a projectile he can send whenever he wants. Finally, his Down B requires several steps. The first time you use it, you plant a seed, which you can then water to make it grow as a tree that deals heavy damages at the place where it takes root. Finally, it unlocks the axe to the villager that deals huge damages and can also be used to knock the tree in order to make it fall on your opponent.

Best moves

  • NEUTRAL B

This attack allows him to put almost any opponent's projectile in his pocket, sending it back with its power increased by two, so it's very handy in many match-ups ! You should also note that this attack has invulnerability's frames and that some objects remain in the pocket until the villager dies.

  • BACK AIR AND FORWARD AIR

These are his main zoning tools. These are villager's essential moves and they allow him to keep the opponent at a great distance while harassing him. Note that the Back Air comes out after the Forward Air but is more powerful and can therefore kill more easily.

  • SIDE B

It is also an important tool in the villager's zoning game. The side B is also very useful to stop his movement in the air in a neat way, which allows villager to faint a landing, to wait some time offstage in order to see how the opponent reacts or even to stop your own ejection !

  • NEUTRAL AIR

It is the main attack to get near an opponent and to initiate combos. On top of that, it's the villager's best out of shield option and the attack allows him to easily edgeguard the characters with a bad recovery by hitting them with a Neutral Air !

  • DOWN B

It is an important attack for villager because it helps him to make a tree grow which takes 10 seconds from the first step. It remains present during 10 seconds, has 30 HP and can deal huge damages when the enemy gets hit by its growth or its fall. Beyond that, making a tree grow gives you access to the axe which can help you to break a shield or to send your opponent fly away very quickly.

  • FORWARD SMASH

This is an important tool especially as an edgeguard tool if you drop a bowling ball on your opponent. The attack is safe on shield while being very violent. It can also kill an opponent very quickly at the edge of the stage or can be placed from the ledge of a stage that has platforms. Burying your opponent with a Down Smash at high % can even lead to a sure death when it is followed by a Forward Smash !

    Take care of your garden

The Down B is very useful because it offers you a great control over the stage, explaining why it is more than important to understand when to use it and why ! Indeed this attack can be very interesting even when the tree is only a young sprout because its presence only can easily scare the opponent, who can fear the tree to grow on him which can hurt very very much !

    Home Sweet Home Designer

The villager has very good tools on platforms such as the Dash Attack which can be used from a platform or from a ledge to edgeguard. It also allows you to easily take an opponent's stock by following it with a Forward Air by instance! In the same vein, you can also rely on the Villager's wall jump to vary his recovery or to edgeguard your opponent !

    Don't go to the city

You should not use the overlapped missile that much, a move you can access to by pushing B for a while while performing a Side B. This attack makes you taking too much risks for a reward that is far from worthing it. It can be used to vary his recovery or in attack but only in very specific situations.

    In a nutshell

The Villager is a character who is good in harassing the opponent and constantly increasing his opponent's % while staying at a suitable distance. This will make your opponent angry and he will quickly lose his temper and make mistakes. This is when you should punish him heavily with a Forward Smash or a well-placed axe ! On top of that, despite his low position in the tier list, he is a character who can stand up against a lot of characters, including top tiers like Peach !
