-This is an attack that allows you to hit your opponent while running. To perform it, simply initiate a dash and then launch an attack.
This is a technique that consists in cancelling a character’s dash animation so that you can act freely without having to perform a Dash Attack or Dash Grab. In Smash Ultimate, you can cancel your Dash with anything you want, whether it’s a jump, a crouch, a shield or an attack. It is also possible to turn around and to suddenly change direction. There is also an advanced technique, the Pivot Cancel, which allows you to launch an attack while sliding to extend the range of your attack.
The Dash Dance is an advanced technique where you quickly tilt the directional stick left and right to cancel the dash animation and make your character stay put. This can be useful for confusing an opponent who doesn’t know which way you’re going to go.
The Dash Grab is performed when you are in a running animation and you throw a grab. Generally the Dash Grab is slower than the classic Grab.
This is a technique that allows you to finish your dash animation while walking. This gives you more options while still moving. This can be useful for blocking projectiles if you have a shield. To perform this technique you must initiate a dash and perform a Down Tilt within the first 4 frames of the Dash. After a Dash Walk you can then launch a grab that is less risky than a Dash Grab or a Jab.
This is the ability to control your trajectory after receiving a blow. This allows you to survive longer when you are on high gradients but also to avoid certain attacks. To survive longer, it is advisable to point the stick in the opposite direction to the one you were sent.
When you press the shield in the air, you perform an Airdodge which you can turn in one direction by tilting the directional stick. This is called a Directional Airdodge.
This is a phase in a match where the opponent gains the upper hand and you find yourself in a difficult situation. You are at a disadvantage, for example, when you are on top of your opponent, outside the field or when you are hanging on to the ledge. The challenge will be to get out of this disadvantage phase to get back to neutral or even to turn the situation to your advantage and put the opponent at a disadvantage in turn.
A character who has a disjointed hitbox on his attacks will not take damage if the enemy taps the hitbox of his attack. For example, a character like Marth who has a disjointed hitbox on his sword, will not take damage if the enemy taps on his sword.
This is the act of disrespecting your opponent. This can be manifested by a general bad attitude, refusing to shake an opponent’s hand after a match, or doing T-bags repetaidly. Another way to disrespect your opponent is to perform a nice action that was not necessary, usually in order to kill your opponent when he was already sure to die.
A ditto is a match against an opponent who is playing the same character as you.
