Designates the sidewall of a stage.

Wall Cling

Some characters like Bayonetta or Sheik can us this technique that consists in staying stuck against a wall. In order to perform a Wall Cling, you have to move the stick against the wall you are sticking at.

Wall Jump

Some characters like Byleth or Joker can use this technique that consists in using a wall in order to jump in the opposite direction. In order to do so, you have to move the directional stick on the opposite direction of the wall at the exact moment you are against it. It is important to know that all characters can perform a wall jump after a wall tech.

Wall Jump B Reverse

Advanced technique which consists in performing a wall jump followed by a B reverse in the air, allowing you to go back on stage while performing a special attack.

Wall of Pain

Fact of tirelessly performing an edgeguard until your opponent is no longer able to come back on stage. That’s why it refers to a wall that goes forward and which against one can’t do anything.

Wall Tech

When you are being launched against a wall, if you press the shield button at the very moment you hit against the wall, you will perform a Wall Tech, which will prevent you from being launched in an improbable angle. It is important to know that you can Wall Jump directly after a Wall Tech in order to punish your opponent that puts you in this situation or just in order to get back on stage.

Wavebounce

Advanced technique that consists in using both a Turnaround-B and a B-reverse in order to change one’s initial direction while still facing the same direction. For example, if my character is facing right and you start to go right, after performing a Wavebounce, your character  will still  be going right, but then facing left. It is very useful in order to reposition yourself and to launch projectiles at the same time.

Whiff Punish

Punishing an opponent’s attack that haven’t hitted you. If an enemy hits in the void, you then have much more time to act. A simple technique in order to whiff punish is to abruptly go backwards in order to create an empty space where the opponent will hit, before coming back and hitting your opponent.
