Dropping an item in the air, which is different from throwing an object in a precise direction. In order to perform a Z drop, you have to be in the air and to have an item in your hands (LInk’s Bomb, Diddy Kong’s Banana) and to press the release button without moving the directional stick in any direction.

Consists in using a grab in the air in order to inflict damage, which can be used by characters that possess a tether grab like Lucas, Zero Suit Samus or even Young LInk.
