This is the physical edge of the field. As soon as you pass the edge, you are offstage.

Edgeguard is when you attack an enemy while they are offstage. This is an interesting phase because your enemy has fewer options at his disposal, which can make it easier for you to kill him.

At the end of an attack, there is a moment when you can’t act directly before you can again, this is called “ending lag”.
